Man smashed cinderblock on sleeping woman’s head then stabbed her to death in Ithaca, police say

Ithaca, N.Y. — A man smashed a cinderblock on a woman’s head while she was sleeping and then stabbed her to death on Monday in Ithaca, police said.
Alaa Husein Jeena Abedi was sleeping when Ahmed Abed, 43, smashed a cinderblock on her head, Ithaca Police said in a criminal complaint filed in Ithaca City Court.
The attack happened at about 5:30 a.m. at 410 S. Plain St., where Abed lived, police said.
