    Description

Here is an old, cabinet card of an infant in a diaper sitting on a chair holding on to the back of it.  At the bottom is written Robert Ingram little son, Brooklyn, New  York.  On the back is written Wharton Girard Ingram Aged 10 months August eight 1896.  At the bottom on the back is written: Robert Ingram, Jr. (cousin) his mother was a Girard.  112 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, N. Y.  I did some research and found that Wharton Girard Ingram was the son of Robert D. Ingram and his wife Ellie Girard.  Wharton was born October 8, 1895, which would make him 10 months old when this photo was taken on August 8, 1896.  The family moved to Philadelphia, where his father died in 1916.  According to the father's death certificate he was a paper manufacturer.  Wharton served in the army in both WWI and WWII, retiring as a Colonel after WWII while serving on the staff of General Douglas MacArthur.  He died in 1958 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.  The photo measures 6 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches and is nice and clear, it does have writing on the bottom of it, but not on the any part of the child.  The edges of the cardboard may have a few rough spots.  Great photo for anyone tracing the family history of the Ingram family.  Postage will be 3.50 to the U. S.
