    Description

Cabinet card photograph (just under 4 ¼” by 6 ½”) of Reverend Father McHugh, by McNally of New York, circa 1880s to 1890s. The portrait view, identified with a printed caption below as Rev. Father Mc.Hugh, shows a young man in clerical garb with Pince Nez glasses posing for his likeness in a photographic studio. I’m confident this is a Catholic priest, but the name McHugh is too common for me to pin down who this is exactly. There were a couple of them from the Scranton, Pennsylvania, area with that name, including one who died during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. The cabinet card is in good condition with only light wear and soiling. Note the rubbing at the corners of the card. The photograph exhibits only good tonal range (a bit light and mottled) and shows only good detail. A nice image of an Irish Catholic priest!
