Antique CABINET CARD PHOTO CAB CARD Circa LATE 1890’s MATTED Photo FUNUARY THEME Showing a CASKET Decorated With FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS Including a HARP Shape. Put out by a PHOTOGRAPHER’S studio in MT. GILEAD, OHIO. Photographer named Theodore Brown. Measures approximately 5.5” L x 3 14/16” W. Black and White in color. Weighs Approximately 1 ounce. Cabinet Cards were made in the same way as CDV’s (a glass negative used to print photos on a piece of paper that was glued to heavy card stock), except now they were larger and added black and silver colors in addition to sepia. Also, they often had beveled or scalloped edges. Cab Cards were in use from 1866-1903. At the bottom of this photo, the name of the photographer (or photo studio) as well as the location is etched into the matte. In good condition with sharp corners and extremely mild edge wear. A black “scratch” is visible to the right of the bottom part of the harp arrangement. These flaws are not detrimental to the overall great appearance of this photo in my opinion, however. But, please see photo and you be the judge.
