Description
A 1880s Cabinet Card Photo Combo of an Adolescent Brother and Sister From Brockton, Mass. The photographer was E. T. Bass Photo from Brockton, Mass., and operated a studio there from 1880-1900. There are SO many things in this photo, which are typical of the 1880's: the hair styles, his single-button jacket and the stand-up collar, her lacy collar, broach, buttons and the silky fabric of the dress. Although many men of that time sported facial hair, it was not uncommon to see men, especially younger men, who were clean shaven. The photos are in excellent condition. All surfaces and edges, and corners are in perfect condition, and even the back of the card is perfect. Please see all of the photos above to confirm the condition of this cabinet card.Item 484513 ◊ 1880s Cabinet Card Photo Combo, Stylish Adolescent Brother & Sister From Brockton, Mass.
A rare and original, "1880s Cabinet Card Photo Combo, Adolescent Brother and Sister From Brockton, Mass." The cards are outstanding, period cabinet card photographs, which both measures approx. 5-3/8" X 4" (13.7 cm X 10 cm.) and are mounted on their original beige Card Mount, which measures approx. 6-1/2" X 4-1/4" (16.3 cm X 10.5 cm.) There is a decorative, element across the bottom of the card in gold-gilt ink, and the name of the photographer is in gold-gilt also. Customers paid more for that extra, elegant touch.

At the bottom of the photographs, it gives the photographer's information: E. T. Bass Photo. P. O Block, Brockton. The similar information is also on the back of the card, plus the fact that it used to be "Burrell's Photography." Edward T. Bass operated at this location from 1880 to 1900, according to the Greenough's Brockton City Directories. It is based on that and the details in the photo, which helped us date the photo to the 1880's.
Both of these wonderful "Cabinet Card Photos" are in excellent condition. They have amazing details, of which even a modern-day photographer would be jealous. Both cards have just a tad of foxing both in front and in back. The edges are strong, although one corner on the man's card is a little bit bumped. But all surfaces show no wear.
Please see all of the photos above to confirm the condition of these cabinet cards.
A very unique and wonderful, "1880s Cabinet Card Photo Combo, Adolescent Brother and Sister From Brockton, Mass," and a fantastic addition to any collector of 19th Century photos, or history buff from Massachusetts.
